Because of their H.S experience, the expectation is that they will adjust and thrive in their new college environment. The Fallacy

You’re accepted into a great college (Congratulations!!!). Perhaps you’ve been offered a full scholarship (including room & board). This is absolutely wonderful!!!! What if we told you that many undergraduate college women that attend great schools, go to class hungry and experience hunger frequently. When the food service/food pantries on campus are closed or they can’t afford to buy food, these young ladies are put into more challenging situations. What if we told you that baseline personal items aren’t affordable for most students. What if we told you, there are college women who have experienced homelessness or live at/or below the poverty line with their families and still go to class every day. What if we told you many college women are embarrassed to ask for assistance so they can thrive. In fact, these young women will suffer in silence as they “push through.” What would you do?
